Common Sense
September 27, 2007 at 11:30 pm | In Anything Whatever | 1 CommentSaw this pic in one of the forums. So decide to save it in my thumb drive for future use. However the more I look at it, the more I kind of like it, so printed a copy and display it on my desk in office.
Just couldn’t resist putting something like that in office, especially having to constantly work with people whom can easily get to your nerve, must put up something to de-stress, if not sure go mad. Had on a few occassions almost go into the Vulgurities Swearing Mode, just like the good old NSF days. But lucky can always contain the out-burst before it really erupts.
Updates
September 21, 2007 at 6:40 pm | In Anything Whatever | 1 CommentHaven’t been updating the blog for some time, been rather busy with preparation for test. Lucky this sem is better as the test for the various subjects are all spaced out on a weekly basis as compared to previous sem where the whole week was taken up for test. Still got 1 more paper to go next tuesday, so after that will be to focus on our projects.
Been feeling rather down since last week, due to the passing of a colleague was quite affected by the issue. Well at least now that the matter had came to a closure, have to continue to move on then.
Somehow life sure seems very fragile…
She’s down…

To you S!! My entry of graditude from the bottom of my heart for all that you have done!
Gathering of Librarians
September 10, 2007 at 12:32 am | In Anything Whatever | 3 CommentsHad met up all a few of the old and current NSFs from AFS Library today with Sharon & Alan over steamboat dinner. Well good to see them all, especially people like Chua and Guan Jin (sorry I really forgot your English name..) my 2 old fellow librarians Chin and Clarence, and the 2 current librarians Alan and Ian.
Well dinner was good, been sometime since I had steamboat so its a good time to enjoy myself and also catching up with folks from AFS over a hot pot. Its nice to know everyone is doing well in whatever they are doing after they had orded. I guess its nice to have such frequent gathering often so as to keep in contact and to catch up. Even with Sharon, despite our constant chatting online, we still can find things to talk, but well most of the time is like work related matters.
Evening ended with everyone stuffed to the brim and we parted our ways after paying Sharon for the meal. So I guess I will be looking forward for such gatherings more often in the future.

September 6, 2007 at 11:49 pm | In Anything Whatever | 3 CommentsRoaming Day
Was at home surfing net and clearing my office mails in the morning when my classmate, Robin called. Asking me if I at home and since he is in Ang Mo Kio area, he thought of meeting me up for makan and go out. So waited for his call and meet him at the carpark. Asked him where he want to go and say he want to get the new slim PSP. So go Funan with him to check it out with him. Went around the shops to find out the price and settle for one that is going for $289 after much sourcing. After that finally decide to went for lunch, intially wanted to have lunch at one of the ho fan place at Chinatown but too bad we were there too early as they start only at 3.30pm. So we proceed to somewhere else for Prawn Noodles, which according to Robin is suppose to be good. Frankly its not as bad, by far one of the nicest prawn noodles I had eaten. So after a late lunch, we start to think of where to go as it was only like 3.30pm, as it’s too early to go school so thought of going somewhere to relax first. Thought of going to St James for a drink before heading back to school but end up Robin drove up to Vivo City instead. So we end up walking around Vivo City and then deciding to get a drink at Tampines Mall. But don’t know how, we still end up at our regular coffee shop at Tampines. So sit there and chill out before we decide to head to Tampines Mall as we are still way too early for dinner. Same thing walk around Tampines Mall and Century Square and while waiting for Robin to get something for his girlfriend, I ended up buying a pair of sandles for myself. Finally its about time we go back our dinner before lesson. So head back to our regular coffee shop for our dinner and then lesson. Seriously by the time we reach school, both of us were like physically drain from all the travelling and walking. Haa.. really getting old I guess. So thats how the day is spend roaming around and travelling all the way from like the Center of Singapore (Funan) to the South (Vivo City) and then all the way to the East (Tampines).
Results are here!!
Finally saw the red letter from TP in my letter box today. Yes… its the long awaited result slip for Sem 2. The most siong sem for this whole course I must said. So opening it and well glad that I had passed all my subjects. But the results were the worst I had gotten thus far. C for International Business, C for Business Finance and D for Business Statistics. But well it had been kind of expected since for my overall course work, I was also getting C for Int Biz and Finance, and D for Stats which really worries me for if my main exam was like screwed, I will have easily fail the Stats sub. But well at least the worrying is over, since I had cleared everything. So now will be to focus on this sem and then proceed on to Year 3 and complete the whole diploma course!!
Business Plan
September 5, 2007 at 12:20 am | In Anything Whatever | Leave a CommentWas targetted by our lecturer in class today as my group had not done our presentation for our business plan yet. Actually we are suppose to do it last week but we act blur since there was a new lecturer. So today the moment my friend Robin and I entered the class, he immeadiately say.. ‘Arh!! This is the guy that the group haven’t present’ We were like trying to act blur again but this time, he really zoom in on us so no escape for my group this time. We were still targetting to leave by 8pm but the moment lecture ends, the lecturer straight away come to us and say after the break you group have to present no matter what.
So during the break + discussion time for us, we throw in lots of ideas, ranging from casino, ktv, nightclub to loan shark. Well for the group of us, whenever we gather, we will end up talking crap more than serious talk. So its no surprise we came up with all those funny things before anything else.
Ended up we came up with a beer garden business idea, as my friend suggest using that idea since he is a regular at one of the beer garden in Bishan. So using that as the plan, we just throw in ideas to support our plan. I must say, when it comes to doing something the guys are familiar with, ideas just keep on coming in. So in the end, our plan was accepted and we were told to work on that.
We were like.. wau lao.. like that anyhow bull-shit also can clear. So there you have it. Our group are always being seen as the happy-go-lucky group and using the 80/20 concept, everyone in the group are 80% jokers and 20% serious. But I must say it sure was fun being in such a group, it does made learning a more interesting experience, something that we see as a way for the group to become close.
The Best Is Yet To Be
September 1, 2007 at 2:02 am | In Anything Whatever | Leave a CommentSince it’s Teachers Day today, so most of the school had their celebration today. Since the day had been slow in the office, so decide to went back to Anglo Chinese Pri to visit the teachers there and also to catch their performance. Actually Anglo Chinese Pri was the library I was attached to as a Library Assistant, having been there for almost 1 yr, so had managed to build the rapport and relationship with the teachers and staffs there.
Actually was back at ACS Pri on Thur as I had to bring 2 trainees for a short OJT. So managed to meet up with some of the teachers already and was informed of the performance on Friday. Thus making a 2nd trip back again. Have to admit, being the sentimental guy, am still very attached to the place and also the time with the teachers. Though I am an outsourced staff, but during my time there I was actually treated very much like part of their school staff. Whatever functions the school hold for their teachers, I am also invited and its through such functions that I had build up a good relationships with most of the teachers there.
Sure was great to see all of them and catch up with them all, even did a walk-about to all the different level staff rooms to find the teachers. A visit back to ACS will always bring back fond memories of my time there, will be looking forward to visiting the place again and also to hang out with the teachers.
Haa.. one of the best time was last year, during the last day of school, everyone was invitied to a staff dinner to show appreciation to the staffs and also to mark an end to the whole school term. After the dinner, a group of us actually went for a drinking session, and man some of the teachers sure can drink!! Also the drinking session was also the time where I was introduced to Betty. Betty is supposively to be a ‘permenant resident’ of the school, she is rumour to be ‘hanging’ out mostly at the secondary school block (science lab area), but well she can practically be everywhere it just depends on how ‘lucky’ you are to ‘bump’ into her thats all. So far a few of the teachers and even the VP had some encounters with Betty before, so they were like cautioning me that since I will be alone in the library during the Dec holidays, so just be more careful.
Going back to ACS today, I also had the chance to see my little Josiah. I was like his nanny during my time at ACS as he will be left in the library while waiting for his mum to knock off from work, and during this period, I will be taking care of him and occassionally teach him writing and reading. Well he’s actually the son of one of the teacher in the school, so she will leave him in the library and when she is done with her work, she will either pick him up at the library or she will call me to ask little Josiah to go down to the staff room. Somehow both of us got along very well, he will always call me Uncle Vincent! Uncle Vincent! and follow me around the library. When he knew that I was leaving, he was quite sad because he keep on asking his mum why am I leaving, and on my last day he made me a card and when he was going home, he shyly told me “Uncle Vincent! I will miss you”… I was so touched that I almost cried. Well since his birthday is coming so must get him a present and then can see him again.
Seriously if I were to talk about my days in ACS, I can go on non-stop because that place is where I really master the rope of handling and managing library, and also the place where I made some very good friends and even a little boy. I must said, the ACS culture is indeed very strong and for a non-ACS staff to feel so much attached to that place it’s really amazing.
