No Music No Life
January 28, 2008 at 12:04 am | In Anything Whatever | Leave a CommentHad always rely on the in-built radio from my hand-phone for my daily fixed of music when I am moving around. So it had been a week of depressing mood for me when the ear-piece from my hand-phone decide to go for early retirement. So left with no choice but to live life without the luxury of having music.
I guess I must be too reliance on having music whenever I am on the go, so the whole week having to go to work without having anything to listen to was indeed a torture. Furthermore, for 2 days last week, had to go all the way to Sembawang Country Club for our work-plan retreat. To reach the club, one has to travel through this long stretch of road leading into Sembawang Airbase and then to Sembawang Country Club. For those that drive, it should be a 10 mins drive in from the main road, but for those that walk, it is at least 20 mins (depending on walking pace). So I had to take my morning walk up to Sembawang Country Club on the 2 days without any music.
Anyway over the weekend, decide to see if I can get a new ear-piece from Nokia Care Centre, since my phone is still under warranty. But sadly due to their crappy company policy, my spoilt ear-piece does not qualified for a one-to-one exchange. So end up have to purchase a new one.
Well since feeling pissed with Nokia’s crappy policy, so resolved that I will never get my new ear-piece from them, rather get those cheaper versions from those neighbourhood hand-phone shops. Thus went on to my ear-piece hunting this evening and end up got an original Nokia earpiece at a cheaper price than those selling at authorised Nokia shop. Haa… damn you Nokia and your crappy company policy _|_
Anyway, I guess I have indeed lived by one of my tag-line very closely. No Music No Life!! Indeed my 1 week without any music sure does create some form of disturbance in my life. But well, now that I had gotten a new ear-piece, life will be back to normal eh!!
Helloooo Music!!!
Going back
January 19, 2008 at 11:10 am | In Anything Whatever | Leave a CommentHad arranged with one of my ex-colleague to go back to our previous work place yestereday. Though by the time we arrive its close to their knock off time. So some of the colleagues had already left, lucky for us those that we want to meet are still around. Its nice to see all of them again, somehow got too little time and too much person to catch up with. Sadly couldn’t really catch up with all of them.
So after hanging out for a while, went to coffee with the usual gang. Had a nice round of catching up and joking over coffee at our usual place. Even made an arrangement to meet up for seafood on Monday. Looking forward!!
House-keeping
January 13, 2008 at 5:51 pm | In Anything Whatever | Leave a CommentStay home today to do some house-keeping of my room. Since doing abit of spring-cleaning and also to clear up some mess at one corner of the room. Doing it at my own pace, I end up taking 3 hours just to clear my room and also my desk. Now very satisified, cos my room looks neater and also cleaner.
Had decide to throw away all the notes from my course, left with Marketing, HR and Legal Aspect of Business. The rest all will be going to the recycle bin for another new lease of life.
At the same time, also took the chance to take look through my photo album again since I decide to keep the 2 photos that were on my desk for like the longest years. Looking at the photos does bring back fond memories from my Sec School days all the way to the last few years working.
Now that I had cleared my room, will be done for the spring cleaning. So will be going to start looking for new clothes for the New Year.
Catching up
January 13, 2008 at 12:36 am | In Anything Whatever | Leave a CommentFinally meet up with one of my ex-colleague after we had talked about meeting up since like last year. So today finally met her up for lunch at Bugis. I think she had left the company in the midst of me going back to head office. So didn’t really had the chance to work with her, though she can be considered to be half of my supervisor.
I think we last saw each other more than 1 year back, after our office conference. During that period, its usually the usual e-mail due to work related stuffs. So didn’t really have the chance to talk much. But today when we meet, I must say we really do lots of catching up. Somehow, since both of us are not in the company already, so its easier to talk about what had/is happening back in the company now. So during lunch is all about our ex-company matters (colleagues, management, policies, librarians…) to her interesting classmates in her school. I think we spent like almost 2 hours plus talking before taking a walk back at Bugis Junction. So after taking a walk, went over to tcc (The Coffee Connoisseur) for a drink. Over there we continue to talk and catch up till like almost 8pm before going home.
Its really amazing how both of us can really talk for almost the whole day. I guess its really a good catching up session, especially on our previous company, as it really offer a different perspective from her, since back then she was under a different supervisor from me. Although we are talking about the same issue, we do come up with different conclusion due to under different supervisor which somehow affect the way we view the issue.
Anyway it was a good meet up, especially the coffee session at tcc. I must say, that place is really cool and the ambiance is really very nice. The whole place is design to give it a very classy look, especially our seat where it has this hanging chandelier. Furthermore by the evening, it dims the light and make the whole place even more classy and warm with the soft light from the chandelier. I would say, a damn good place to hang out with and do some catching up over drinks.
However for lunch, the place we went was a bit of a disappointment. Was reading a blog on good food here and this Hong Kong Style Cafe was mentioned Tong Shui. So was curious to try out their dishes there since it was kind of highly recommended. So went over to the outlet at Bugis. Order our food and drinks. Well I believe to try out Hong Kong food, the first will be their coffee milk tea. To my disappointment, the ice coffee milk tea I had was horrible. Can’t really taste the milk tea, its more like coffee and some funny tasting tea. But well, the food is not that bad to be frank. Had their Pork Chop with Egg noodle soup, and it was ok. We also tried their signature dessert, Thick Toast with Peanut Butter and Condensed Milk. That was nice, with generous spread of peanut butter, but can’t really taste the condensed milk. However the over-baked rice that my friend tried was kind of cheesy. Can really smell the cheesy aroma once it was served to our table, and upon stirring the rice, the cheesy aroma just fill the table, furthermore the table next to us also ordered one of the oven,-baked rice, and the cheesy aroma also diffused to our table. I don’t know if its not nice, cos my friend didn’t managed to finish her rice. So I assume it might not be that nice.
Anyway had drank better tasting coffee milk tea from other similar Hong Kong Style Cafe, and I must said so far most of them are really good, where you can really taste the coffee and tea. As for food, so can’t really comment much, since other than Tong Shui, I only eaten from another HK Style cafe in Katong area, which also serves nice food.
So there it goes, my whole day of catching up and experiencing with 2 different hang out place.
1st Lesson for Year 3
January 4, 2008 at 12:04 am | In Anything Whatever | Leave a CommentAfter almost 1 month plus of break, lesson has started for Year 3. Yes!! Finally made it to the final year.
For this last year, looking at the time-table theres no lesson on Saturday!! Only a couple of them, so thats good news to us all. Furthermore, this semester doing Consumer Behaviour and Advertising & Promotion. So far A&P is Project Based Learning Style (PBL), so no exams!! Yeah!! I believe for Consumer Behaviour should also be the same PBL style.
Well first day of school, glad to see everyone back. It doesn’t take long before we are all settled down and back to our own ways. Engaging in our crappy talks once in a while, giving the sian-half look when the ever loud-mouth, naggy aunty starts her nonsenses by argue for the sake of arguing with the lecturer over some minor/senseless stuffs and also the forever poser big-sized (I’m being nice) lady who always want to show that she knows alot by answering everything the lecturer asked. I guess those 2 ladies are even more funny than me and my gang… To think both of their age add up are around 70 + or maybe even can hit 80 already.
I guess, its like what Forest Gump always say ‘ Life is like a box of chocolate, you never know what you going to get’ To think we still can get student like that in an adult learners class.
That CD Shop
January 1, 2008 at 11:16 pm | In Anything Whatever | Leave a CommentWas suppose to go buy a CD (sound-track) for someone and since got some time today, decide to go over to That CD Shop in Paragon since I saw the CD some time back while window-shopping at Paragon. Lucky though its a public holiday, Orchard area wasn’t really that crowded… So went over to the CD shop and start looking for the CD, but then can’t find it on the shelves… so was thinking, so heng meh… now I want to buy no more liao. So asked the sales-lady and true enough, its no more available at their store. So asked her if her other branches have anot.. and lucky the store in Great World City has it, so asked them to reserve for me and I will make my way there after trying some of the CDs there.
Well one thing good about That CD Shop is that it carries a very large range of those New Age Musics, Instrumentals, Lounge Musics.. etc.. etc, the shop is also manned by all ladies staffs, and the best thing about the shop is that, you can actually try any of the CD you want on their listening post located in their shops. If you are their super regular, sometimes the staffs will even played them on their main player for you to hear and also experience the sound system. (So far I only got 1 such treatment at their Great World branch, where I was their regular).
Anyway most of the time, I will always end up buying quite a few CDs from them, as they usually have those CDs that I want/like and their sales staffs are pretty good in their product knowledge, cos most of the time you tell them what type of music you are looking for, they will be able to come up with some recommendations that you will like. But somehow today, I just can’t seem to find any that I like. Even when I went over to their Great World City branch, I still can’t really find anything that I liked after trying a few of the CDs. So end up only buying the CD that I reserved.
I think next time must look for the sales-lady that I had known during my working days at Great World, cos somehow she seems to know what I want and I always end up buying most of what she recommended. Haa.. well not that she is pretty, but I guess that’s one of the privileges of being a regular, since I had been buying most of my CDs from them since my O level days till now when working in Great World City.
Well.. with the purchased of the CD, I just need one more thing, before I complete what I need to get for this person. Another shopping trip coming up!!
