On Guard!!
August 29, 2008 at 9:43 pm | In Anything Whatever | Leave a CommentJust received a call from one of my colleague on Wednesday noon. Basically its a call to update me with some issues that happened during the day and to also get me to be on guard. Seems like the brief period of peace and tranquil is going to be over, and once again we have to be players in the game of human chess.
With a new player in the house, the brief period of uncertainty is over. Sides have been chosen and lines are being drawn. Time to be on the alert again.
Players… On Guard!!
Well, I guess don;t think too much, take things at its stride eh… Better go relax and watch my Criminal Minds Season 3!! Whoo Hooo… finally found the site to watch it. Yeah!!
So many things…
August 25, 2008 at 11:59 pm | In Anything Whatever | 1 CommentLast week was quite an interesting week for me. Had finally settled down with my new project group, perhaps having been together for 3 years, it doesn;t take long before we break the ice and start cracking jokes. Well, as usual being the joker, I will always come up with something crappy to get the rest started. So lessons had been rather enjoyable thus far. Furthermore the lecturer has an unique way of teaching due to the PBL style of learning. So far we had been doing matching, fill in the blanks and cross-word puzzle for the past 3 topics. He will only explain certain concepts if he feels that we do not understand or when we asked. So it kind of feels weird for a rather theory subject to be presented in such a way. However looking at the topics, it does seems like most of them are kind of application based. Things like recruitment, selection process, training & development process etc.. Well, lucky I got my hands on the textbook from the library. So at least can do some self-reading to understand more.
Had went over to enquire for a degree programme last Friday. A distant learning programme with Murdoch University. With the programme conducted by SMA (School of Management, an affiliation of the Singapore Manufacturing Federation). So far so good, as due to our TP diploma, we can proceed to their year 2 and 3. Which will take us either 16 months or 20 months to complete the whole degree, depending on which duration we choose. The cost of the whole thing is also quite ok, everything in around 17K (round-up figure). However am still looking at a few others before deciding. As there are 1-2 more we might be looking at.
Had been home alone for the past few days. As my mum went to Hong Kong with my sis. So time for me to enjoy my days of being alone at home. Well, so far so good… coping well. Though have to admit it sure is tough when it comes to settling meals.. Had like instant noodles with chicken chop and those beancurd chicken, all frozen stuffs. Then spent like $10 just on dinner for Sunday, which comprises of 1 can of Clam Chowder soup, 1 loaf of bread (to go with the can of tuna at home), 1 pack of orange juice and 1 pack of potatoes chips. Hee.. guess its always a situation where, you win some and you lose some. So while I got my freedom and peacefulness for the few days, I have to source for my own food. Fun to a certain extent, but can get quite tiring, especially most of the outside food are pretty similar. Worse of all, the stupid market is under-going renovation.. If not could have bought some simple food and cook. Though there isn;t much stuffs I can cook for a start.. but at least there will be more choices.
Ok.. time to get some sleep. Since the weather has been nice and cooling due to the rain during the weekend. Chill now man!!!
Cakes
August 20, 2008 at 11:49 pm | In Anything Whatever | 1 CommentThanks to these people, I am able to have 2 cakes for my birthday.
One was at my work-place, with M buying a cake for me to be eaten during our morning break with our break kaki. However due to bad timing, most of the people are on leave. Thus left with M and D who is around. So we scheduled to have the cake during lunch time instead, hoping that 1 more of our break kaki will be able to join us. However due to timing issues, its only left with M and D who is around during lunch. So decided to just eat the cake even if it’s only the 3 of us.
Well.. M had bought a nice Mango Mousse Cake!! It was a very nice cake, tasty and not too sweet and not too filling though its mousse. The only negative part of the cake was this slice of sour strawberry that I was asked to eat, since I was the birthday boy. Have to thanks M and D who spent the time to celebrate my birthday for me, and also the rest Ms G and Ms J for the cake as well.
Had my 2nd cake today, though it was 2 days after my birthday. Had met up with HM, M and S for dinner before our meeting. So M had bought a slice of cake for me. A piece of Chocolate Mousse cake with blueberry fillings in the middle. Sure was touched with M’s gesture, and also having HM and S around to join in the fun.
Its been a while since I was last being pampered on my birthday… So its nice to have people around that takes the effort to make me feel pampered during my birthday. Thanks to all you wonderful ladies for being part of my birthday…
Haa… managed to find the picture of the 2 cakes I had… See!! nice right!!
Start of School + Nice Song + Cute Babies
August 13, 2008 at 12:19 am | In Anything Whatever | 1 CommentIts the start of the semester and I must say it seems like an interesting semester. Though its HR for this sem, but looking at the course requirement, I think it won;t be what we thought it should be, as in very theory based. Instead the lecturer was telling us, it will be PBL style. So I guess that will make learning fun, as it will be more case-study or real life scenarios than just learning the theory aspect from text. So can expect a lot of fun in class, furthermore only 10 of us taking HR. I guess can be looking forward to future lessons then. Since its the final sem for us, perhaps the extra motivation for us as well.
Had recently transferred some songs into my MP3 Player from my huge collection of CDs. Came across this song from one of the drama sound-track (TVB Drama, Healing Hands) that I bought many years back. Upon listening o the CD, fell in love with one of the song immediately. This English song ‘Angel Eyes” by Ace of Base is very nice. The lyric is very meaningful and very nice music and melody. Had been listening to the song many times since last week and somehow never get sick of it. So today decide to search for the MV on Youtube, and managed to find one with scene from the drama as well.
Heres the link to the MV: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tr07wPk9JKc
Enjoy it eh…
Just saw a message in my Facebook, one of my friend from ACS P had dropped me a reply. As she had just given birth, so I had sent her a message to congratulate her. So she replied today with link to her little baby girl’s photo. Haa… Seems like parents nowadays like to take photo of their baby… Her baby is cute, when she sleeps still got blow bubbles one just like those cartoon… and theres also a few shots of her yawning, that is cute too…
Speaking of cute little baby babies. must also mentioned this cute little princess in my household too… (In case got people jealous, I blogged other people’s princess but not my own household one..) So there you have it, your uncle here allocate a space for you…
This little princess is none other than the daughter of my elder sis, so that makes her my niece and I her uncle. So now I am officially the uncle of 2 kids, 1 prince and 1 princess. 2 X uncle!! This little princess sure is cute, judging from the pictures I seen (another photo taking parents). Some of the expression she made was cute too.. Now will be looking forward to see her when she comes back here.. Which I believe by then she should be at the age where it will be more fun to play with.
Well, your uncle here will be looking forward to seeing you eh…
Visits
August 9, 2008 at 11:40 am | In Anything Whatever | Leave a CommentAs was on half-day yesterday, thus make an appointment with my ex-colleague to visit our previous work-place cos she is also on her school vacation now. So meet up at Little India station and proceed to our ex-office.
It seems there had been quite a major renovation work done at the office. Now the whole office floor is expanded and all the cubicles are more open. Not too bad though… guess the company must be doing well. So as usual, start walking around to the usual group of people that I talked to and start doing our catching up. Too bad my shifu, Mr Cheong not around. Cos really wanted to visit him and catch up with him, perhaps to also take the chance to learn from him again. So after hanging out at the office for a while, we proceed down to our usual coffee shop for drinks before going back to office for more chit-chat and catching up.
Its nice to catch up with all the ex-colleagues again, all the talking sure bring back memories of my working days back there. Though things were challenging at times, but life was great. With a good shifu to guide us and also a pool of good colleagues to work together. Working life was nice there, though the only complaint was the salary wasn’t that great. But well… lets see how it goes in the future, since the company had gotten a few big projects.
Ended the visit with dinner at Bugis with HC after we go over to the National Library before meeting R up for more chit-chat and drinks. R had been one of the good buddy I had at work back then. During my initial days there, he helped me out when I had problems with the technical aspects of our system. So our bond was built up over time and we became close buddy. He will share his problems over drinks after work and I will be the listening ear and gave him advice, while he will helped me out when I faced problems with our system.
It sure was good to make a visit back once in a while. Catching up with everyone and to continue to keep in contact. Work sure was nice back then…
