Incursion

Was told of the news of impending changes in my section due to meager between my library and another section KM, at our retreat last week. The news wasn’t that pleasant to me, as that mean possible changes to my job scope and worse still, possible incursion into my office space.

Tomorrow will be the day where the term of reference for the KM section will be made known to the 2 elders manning the section, and how the new section can merge into my library section.

Am keeping my fingers crossed that there won’t be much changes to my job scope, though that wasn’t what worries me most. The most important thing on my mind will be the possible incursion of my office space by the new section.  I am so not looking forward to it, thus really wish that they will not move down to my library.

Had told my guys about the new of merger and the possibile incursion of our office space, we are so NOT LOOKING forward to it. Shall see how things go at the meeting tomorrow.

Search and Rescue

February 12, 2009 at 10:28 pm | In Anything Whatever | Leave a Comment

Was playing game when Mum had shouted for me from the kitchen. So went over to see what she wants or what happen. That’s where I realised that while she was cleaning the tank for the 2 turtle at home, the big one kind of slipped into the toilet bowl. That caused her to be in panicky mode, and I was asked to fish for the turtle in the toilet bowl.

So I put my hand into the toilet bowl and start feeling for it. Frankly its quite freaking as that’s my first time putting my hand into the toilet bowl and start fishing. I mean who in the world will put their hand into the toilet and start feeling the interior of the toilet bowl….

So the initial search did not produce any result.. perhaps sub-consciously I was also feeling anxiety with what I will get while trying to feel for the turtle. So I concluded that the turtle is gone and call off the search.

Of course Mum was feeling sad about causing the ‘death’ of the turtle. So she finished up what she wanted to do and decide to go for her shower. That’s where another shout from her came, apparently she saw the feet of the turtle and I was activated again to conduct another search and rescue.

Again my hand was put into the toilet bowl and start feeling for it. Well, this time round I managed to see the feet of the turtle and perhaps it was also frighten, so the turtle kept on trying to kept it’s feet back.. This had made the whole rescue operation complicated, as the nails of the feet is kind of poky.. So I requested for a plastic bag to cover my hand as that will make pulling it out easier.

So wrapping my hand with a plastic bag, again I start feeling for the turtle. Luckily I managed to feel for the feet and abit of the shell.  Now is to get a good grip of it’s body part to pull it out. Tried the edge of the shell but it was too slippery and too little surface for me to grip. Then I managed to grip on to one of it’s leg and that’s where I tried to pull it out. Thank goodness with the plastic bag on, I can’t feel the poky edge from the nail and managed to pull it out of the toilet bowl.

The turtle was all curled up into it’s shell and upon placing it on the toilet floor, it start to run in fright. So Mum pick it up, gave it a good wash and a quick reprimand. That ended the whole search and rescue operation with me washing my hand with soap and resume my game play.

For me, it was an interesting event, especially feeling the interior of the toilet. I bet the turtle must also had an interesting encounter too… If only I can get it to share it’s feelings. I would like to know what it looked like inside the toilet bowl.

Lost

I wonder is it just me or does such feelings happened to everyone as well. Its a feeling where you feel hungry and your mind start to make order of what to eat, however the feeling will change from a hungry person to a confused person upon reaching the hawker center/coffee-shop/market where you are faced with lots of choices to the extend you don’t know what to eat.

Well, it happened to me again today. Had went over to Chinatown to pick up some samples from my friend who is doing T-Shirt, so decide to have dinner before heading over to my association for meeting. Had initially wanted to have Subway Sandwich, but figured that shouldn’t waste the trip to go over to Habourfront just for a sandwich, and later still need to take a bus down to my association.

So decide to head over to the market at Chinatown to find dinner. My gosh…. I didn’t know the market is so big after the renovation. Big to the extend after walking around a few times, I am still not able to see all the stores. Of course what follows after these is where I am put into a state of confusion and lost, the don’t know what to eat feeling came in, combined with the I want to eat this, this, this and this feeling just doesn’t help in the situation. Because everything just seem so nice, despite most of the food there are those typical hawker food. But bearing in mind that it is Chinatown, supposedly one of the place where most good food are located.

Well, ended up settling for a fried spring roll and mixed-vegetable rice. The fried spring roll is nice. One is not enough for sure, but then I do not want to overeat for dinner. So just bought 1 fried spring roll to go with my mixed vegetable rice, washed it down with fresh fruit juice of  Orange Carrot. That settled my dinner for the day. Had never felt so tired before just walking around a market.

Ohh… and I did something naughty today. Was at Orchard to source for some DVDs, as I wanted to go over to the Kinokuniya at Taka, so decide to jaywalk across from Lucky Plaza. While waiting, this old man approach me. He asked me a very cute question.

Old Man: “Can we cross to the opposite from here? or are we suppose to use the traffic light?”

For a moment I was stunted with the question, but I just told him

Me: “Oh.. Legally we are not supposed to, but illegally we just do it.”

Old Man: “Oh.. so long as there’s no policeman opposite we can just crossed?”

Me: “Yah… and no worries, the police are hardly around.”

So following which I actually asked him to follow me, and I guided him across the road and we bid our farewell once we reach the pathway at Taka side.

Well… technically I did helped an old man crossed the road, just that we do it the illegal way. Good deed done?? You be the judge.

Got Fillings

February 1, 2009 at 3:54 pm | In Anything Whatever | Leave a Comment

Had went over to my dentist on Saturday to do a simple filling on one of the tooth at the bottom. As the way it grow has kind of resulted it having a little hole near to the gum area, which makes the tooth prone to decay and even gum disease. Thus during my last visit, my dentist actually suggested covering up the hole with a simple filling. So made an appointment and see her on Saturday to get the job done.

Overall a simple process where she first cleaned the tooth up, then proceed to cover up the hole with some ’stuffs’ then used some strong lights to solidify the filling and polish it a little so that the colour kind of blend in with the colour of the tooth, and viola.. the job is done. Whole process took less than like half and hour.

Of course with every dentist visit, the topic of me putting on braces to solve the crowding problem on my teeth will come up. She is coming from the point of easy cleaning, thus lower the risk of tooth decay and gum disease. For me, my point of view is the cost, the pain and the inconveniences for at least a good 2 years during the process. So that is the reason why till now I still don’t want to have braces on.

Anyway, will see how it goes as currently my teeth are still pretty ok and so long as I keep up with the constant brushing, flossing and the regular 6 monthly visits to the dentist. It should be ok.

I guess, it is important to ensure our teeth are also being taken care of, as I notice most people tend to neglect this aspect of their health care. Well, its important to not only have nice looking set of teeth, it has to be healthy too, and most of the time, problems happening to the teeth won’t show up until it is in a rather serious condition. So take care of the tooth eh.
