3 Appointments
March 22, 2009 at 1:47 am | In Anything Whatever | Leave a CommentIf there is a day where my days are all packed to the brim, I would have to say today is one of those days. As I have to attend 3 different appointments today.
My day started pretty early with attending the Library Association of Singapore’s AGM, held at Rendezvous Hotel. As it was my first time attending an AGM, so was pretty excited about it. Also was looking at the possibilities of meeting up with the other librarians and do some networking. The session was great, got to mingle around with some of the librarians from SMU and TP. Also saw one of the director from my ex company, so did some catching up with him. Best part of the AGM was to meet up the Hon Treasurer. She was the person that helped me process my membership renewal at the very last minute and also ensuring that I gotten the receipt fast so as to settle the claims fast from my office. We had spoken via email prior to the AGM that we should meet up during the AGM, so as to know each other. Since she has been helping me with the renewal. So its time for us to put a face to our name. It was indeed an eye-opening session, especially seeing how serious the librarians were in ensuring the Association do its job to take care and even enhance the standing of the library profession.
After the AGM, proceed to one of my association leader’s place for a meeting. Basically its to firm up some details of subsequent meeting for our members.
Proceed to make my way to Bugis to meet up the Gang from AFS. Basically its a reunion for us, especially after all of the gang had been posted out of AFS. So its time for us to catch up and gather. Had our dinner at MOF, a Japanese restaurant. Food was pretty ok, though the serving was kind of small. Dessert was not too bad too. Overall had a good dinner amidst all the laughter. After dinner, decide to head over to G’s bar. Its a bar that was co-owned by one of my ex guy. As we were talking about going over to pay a visit and show our support. So we decide to open a bottle of Black Label, as its pretty cheap for a bottle there. Furthermore, E was going to absorb 70% of the cost for us. So had our bottle and then decide to play some simple card games.
The card game does get everyone into the mood and before we knew it, we down the bottle within 2 hours. But well, have to say that our group was pretty big. 8 pax over a bottle, with at least 3 big time drinkers.
Overall had a good time with the Gang from AFS. Especially with the catching up/joking/gossiping. I do hope we can meet up at least once every month, if not every 2 months. Somehow the bond and friendship built up has to be constantly maintain to ensure we don’t lose contact.
Reflection & Reconcile
March 11, 2009 at 11:33 pm | In Anything Whatever | 2 CommentsDue to some issues happening at work for the past few days, somehow there seem to be a little in-balance in my mood. I would say it has been a long time since I last gone through such emotional swing. That is even despite the fact that on Friday, even with a piece of good news, it still doesn’t help to bring back the balance in the mood. The small self in me just felt so mis-treated by the whole chain of events. With such negative thoughts, it became to be translated to actions and words. Which upon reflection now, it is indeed unprofessional at my part.
So I am glad that I had spoken to W yesterday over my duty at the association. It sure was good to have someone reminding me to learn how to let go of the superficial things in life and to treat each and everyone with compassion. So after reflecting and facing up to the fact of things. It sure help in letting go the burden of feeling mis-treated and venting out the frustration on people. Somehow life seems better with a shift in perception and views.
Had resolved to handle the whole issue in a professional manner so as to live up to the good name of the association and also as an individual.
Another wonderful thing happened. Got a msn message for A. She was one of my group members in my poly days, and we were considered to be good study partners, as we will always arranged to study and revise together. Furthermore she had been working at a rather young age, so she has wealth of life and work experience, which I will always look for her for advice on jobs related issues. However our friendship took a turn during our 3rd year, where we got into an argument over some very minor issues regarding our project. She being the stubborn lady, while I being the emotional guy. Both of us refuse to give in and thus our 2 years plus of friendship ended abruptly due to the incident.
So we became total stranger to each other during our remaining 2 semesters in year 3. We didn’t keep any contact or whatsoever, until some where last month I got a sms from her asking for the handphone number of our ex-classmate. It came as a surprise today when I gotten a msn message from her, thus we start doing our usual catching up and updating each other our latest progress.
I was glad to once again regain back the contact with her again. As I feel that our friendship that was built up during our years of studies and struggles shouldn’t be so weak that it had to end over some minor issues. So once again, I am happy to have regain back our friendship and this friend.
Well, to A… Thanks for taking the first step in re-establishing our contacts. Appreciate your gesture.
Feasting Day
March 2, 2009 at 11:17 pm | In Anything Whatever | Leave a CommentHad a great day yesterday as I got 2 functions to attend. These 2 functions are supposed to be a eating function, where food will be aplenty.
1st function was to celebrate my aunt’s 60th birthday. Its a lunch function held at Ritz Carlton, my cousins had booked a room there to host the lunch for the whole family, plus the siblings which consists of the other aunties and my mum.
Well… Lunch was great and sumptuous. After the cake-cutting and photo taking. The appetiser was served, a peach bun for everyone. Then came the 1st dish.. Roast Suckling Pig!!! Haa… its like a treat for meat-eater like me. So without further ado.. everyone had a great time enjoying the suckling pig. The rest of the dishes were just as great, shark fin soup, fried scallop, steam fish and the next big thing came. Wasabi Prawn… and this is like 1 huge prawn each with Wasabi on top of it. Well.. lucky me, due to my 2 cousins who can;t eat prawns so I get to eat their share.. So imagine I have like 3 BIG Prawns!! Haa… I am so going to get fat. Well by then most of us are already like full.. So the noodles were given out in small portion and ended it with red bean paste as dessert.
So that ended lunch for the day, well.. I wished I had brought my camera along, then I will be able to take pictures of the nice food I had.
After lunch, head home for a quick rest before heading to my Da Jie’s house for her baby’s 1 month. Again this function will come with buffet catered. But as I am still feeling full from the super heavy lunch, so I had not eaten much at Da Jie’s place. But her newborn son is cute… best part, he can still sleep so soundly despite the noise from the tons of kids and adults at Da Jie’s place. Super kid in the making I guess.
Was telling myself that I have to de-tox myself the next day, since I had such a heavy intake of food but well… as I was typing now, I have to say, I tried.. but I realised that by having a late dinner, I run the risked of having a heavier dinner. As I had a nice Roti John and Teh Ice for dinner at 9pm. Now can still feel the Roti John going through the digestion process in my body.
Haaa… but no worries. In any case, I can still get the digestion tea Mum has to help.
