5 Years

Was just thinking about this yesterday and today received a letter from ITE, asking us the graduates of ITE who has been working for around 5 years or more since graduated to do a simple survey.

Well.. Time flies. Its like 5 years since I completed my ITE, got enlisted and stepped into the working world. From my very first job as a sales rep, to becoming a librarian till now. I sure have learnt alot, both good things and bad things.

Personally, this 5 years had indeed help me become a wiser person. With so many roles to play at one time, if I am not learning something, then my 5 years of working life would seriously be wasted.

Thinking back, working life sure opens one’s mind to a different perspective of things and life. I am glad that with a sound spiritual support and good friends around. I am able to distinguish what is good and what is bad. While sometimes its tough to juggle with all the roles to play but I guess that is life afterall.

5 years have passed. I guess the next 5 years will be a more challenging one, as by now I should be better prepared for what is to come in the working world.

Well.. Finally the time of the year where well-wishers are aplenty. Yes.. Its call birthday.

Did something that to some may be perceive as meaningless or pathetic, but I am glad that I have this day to myself. Though the few calls from office in the day was kind of a kill-joy. But nevertheless, I had managed to enjoy the rest of the day, going where I like to go. Yes.. after today, I am confident that “The Place” is indeed the right  chill out place for me.

Learnt to fully appreciate what I call, “relac one corner”. Perhaps truly understand what she meant the last time we also “relac one corner” at the same coffee joint that I was at today. Sitting down, sipping coffee, watching the world move by you. How enjoyable is that… Anyway, that was her idea of “relac one corner”

Ended the day at my usual watering hole. Haa.. a finale to a day I call my own.

Must plan for such a day at least once a month.

All the World’s a Stage

Well… decided to be a bit profound here, so decided to use a quote from Shakespeare here to describe what is going on.

While searching for the quote, saw how the quote was used in Shakespeare’s play, and below is the part where the quote was used.

All the world’s a stage,
And all the men and women merely players;
They have their exits and their entrances,
And one man in his time plays many parts,
His acts being seven ages.

When I read this text, it really brings out the meaning of the quote. Somehow that seems to describe what is happening in today’s world. The world is a stage and we are all merely the players. Each of us have our roles and sometimes we can play many parts too.

Am seeing alot of such things now, to a certain extend, its starting to get pretty frustrating. While deep in our hearts, we want to play our part and contribute to the organisation, but with so much acting going on, it is really very discouraging to see how things are developing.

Such is life I guess… Either we adapt and play along, if not theres always the option of making your exit, for there will be tons of players waiting to take over the role anytime.

Brunch Time

Finally after such a long time, I managed to go for Brunch today.

Had our regular gathering with the ‘kids’ from AFS today. Thought the turn-out wasn’t as good, but at least we still managed to gather whoever is able to turn up.

So after weeks of discussing, we finally settled for Dim-sum brunch at Pine Court – Meritus Mandarin. Well, since the others are looking for abit of fine dine and also brunch, so that place was pretty much the obvious choice as compared to some other buffet place we found.

Met up everyone at the lobby and proceed on to the restaurant. Upon being seated, we start to look at the menu and decide what to get. As it’s the ala ca style of brunch, Since everyone was hungry, we ordered quite abit for the 1st round. If I am not wrong, we would have gotten at least 15 dishes for the first order. Ranging from the usual dim sum stuffs to a few other recommended items from the restaurant. Half-way through the first round, we ordered some more food for the second round and before we know it. All of us are already feeling bloated with food.

So we begin to struggle with whatever we had left and was pretty worried if we still have orders that were not served yet. Finally finished everything up and its also time for us to get the bills, as the restaurant is preparing for the 2nd seating. So paid up, left the restaurant but stayed around the waiting area to take photos.

Overall, quite an interesting and enjoyable meet-up with the ‘kids’. Though the turn-out wasn’t that good but well I guess as we get along with our life, it will continue to be a challenge to gather everyone. But I believe we will be able to get everyone together come the next outing.

Now I realised that, having brunch is the time where we get our digestive system to work triple hard, as with the amount of food we take in, its no wonder the digestive system will over-worked after a brunch session.
