The Story of Passion, Pride and Prospect

September 9, 2009 at 10:29 pm | In Anything Whatever | 2 Comments

The story of the 3 P.

Passion was discovered during the course of my work in the Air Force. It gain it’s strength through the daily encounter with the guys at work. Through the numerous session of providing some form of counselling or listening ear to them, passion grew as the day gone by. The most significant growth was after attending the para-counselling course, where with the help of Purpose, Passion reached a new level.

However the problem with Passion was, Passion lacks the proper qualification to fully become what it wants. There is a gap that needs to be fill up before Passion can truly become what it wants to be. Somehow, the issue bugging Passion is nothing new. The same predicament also happen to Prospect before, but that was something of the past.

To fill up the gap, there are 2 options that Passion can take. But each option comes with its own set of pros and cons, and before a decision can be reached, all options must be given a serious thought, as there are implications to face regardless of which option to take.

Pride was discovered during the time where I was accepted into the Air Force. Pride was always around and it even managed to settle down in my queen’s life as well. As from her expression and speech, its obvious Pride was with her. Pride was a result of Wish. Wish had always played a part for me to be in civil service, particularly in the Defence Ministry. So after successfully entering the Defence Ministry, Wish gave birth to Pride.

Prospect has the most complicated life story. Prospect started out looking grim, but with the aid of Perseverance, Prospect starts to look better. The unique thing about Prospect and Pride is that, they can complement each other pretty well. Sometimes with Pride, Prospect will look good and sometimes with Prospect, Pride will shine even further.

However it was discovered recently that Prospect might have  reached a situation where it face difficulties in growing. An old ailment that came back to hunt Prospect. To make matter worse, Environment and Politics further make Prospect  look bad. Though Passion had been able to offer Prospect some light, but the light is still at one end of the tunnel, while  Prospect is at the other end of the tunnel. So it will still take some time before Passion and Prospect can come together.

So now is the time where Passion, Pride and Prospect has to sit down and discuss what are their next course of actions.  By right Pride has got nothing to do in the discussion and decision process, however Emotions had gotten Pride involved perhaps as a minority voice.

Again, it’s the situation where one is placed on the cross-road and having to choose between choices. It’s a situation where many people hate, but sadly that’s how life work most of the time. Presenting one with choices and having to choose one right choice out of the many choices.

How do one know if the choice they chose is right???

5 Years

August 20, 2009 at 10:13 pm | In Anything Whatever | Leave a Comment

Was just thinking about this yesterday and today received a letter from ITE, asking us the graduates of ITE who has been working for around 5 years or more since graduated to do a simple survey.

Well.. Time flies. Its like 5 years since I completed my ITE, got enlisted and stepped into the working world. From my very first job as a sales rep, to becoming a librarian till now. I sure have learnt alot, both good things and bad things.

Personally, this 5 years had indeed help me become a wiser person. With so many roles to play at one time, if I am not learning something, then my 5 years of working life would seriously be wasted.

Thinking back, working life sure opens one’s mind to a different perspective of things and life. I am glad that with a sound spiritual support and good friends around. I am able to distinguish what is good and what is bad. While sometimes its tough to juggle with all the roles to play but I guess that is life afterall.

5 years have passed. I guess the next 5 years will be a more challenging one, as by now I should be better prepared for what is to come in the working world.

Well.. Finally the time of the year where well-wishers are aplenty. Yes.. Its call birthday.

Did something that to some may be perceive as meaningless or pathetic, but I am glad that I have this day to myself. Though the few calls from office in the day was kind of a kill-joy. But nevertheless, I had managed to enjoy the rest of the day, going where I like to go. Yes.. after today, I am confident that “The Place” is indeed the right  chill out place for me.

Learnt to fully appreciate what I call, “relac one corner”. Perhaps truly understand what she meant the last time we also “relac one corner” at the same coffee joint that I was at today. Sitting down, sipping coffee, watching the world move by you. How enjoyable is that… Anyway, that was her idea of “relac one corner”

Ended the day at my usual watering hole. Haa.. a finale to a day I call my own.

Must plan for such a day at least once a month.

All the World’s a Stage

August 12, 2009 at 9:01 pm | In Anything Whatever | Leave a Comment

Well… decided to be a bit profound here, so decided to use a quote from Shakespeare here to describe what is going on.

While searching for the quote, saw how the quote was used in Shakespeare’s play, and below is the part where the quote was used.

All the world’s a stage,
And all the men and women merely players;
They have their exits and their entrances,
And one man in his time plays many parts,
His acts being seven ages.

When I read this text, it really brings out the meaning of the quote. Somehow that seems to describe what is happening in today’s world. The world is a stage and we are all merely the players. Each of us have our roles and sometimes we can play many parts too.

Am seeing alot of such things now, to a certain extend, its starting to get pretty frustrating. While deep in our hearts, we want to play our part and contribute to the organisation, but with so much acting going on, it is really very discouraging to see how things are developing.

Such is life I guess… Either we adapt and play along, if not theres always the option of making your exit, for there will be tons of players waiting to take over the role anytime.

Brunch Time

August 2, 2009 at 10:58 pm | In Anything Whatever | Leave a Comment

Finally after such a long time, I managed to go for Brunch today.

Had our regular gathering with the ‘kids’ from AFS today. Thought the turn-out wasn’t as good, but at least we still managed to gather whoever is able to turn up.

So after weeks of discussing, we finally settled for Dim-sum brunch at Pine Court – Meritus Mandarin. Well, since the others are looking for abit of fine dine and also brunch, so that place was pretty much the obvious choice as compared to some other buffet place we found.

Met up everyone at the lobby and proceed on to the restaurant. Upon being seated, we start to look at the menu and decide what to get. As it’s the ala ca style of brunch, Since everyone was hungry, we ordered quite abit for the 1st round. If I am not wrong, we would have gotten at least 15 dishes for the first order. Ranging from the usual dim sum stuffs to a few other recommended items from the restaurant. Half-way through the first round, we ordered some more food for the second round and before we know it. All of us are already feeling bloated with food.

So we begin to struggle with whatever we had left and was pretty worried if we still have orders that were not served yet. Finally finished everything up and its also time for us to get the bills, as the restaurant is preparing for the 2nd seating. So paid up, left the restaurant but stayed around the waiting area to take photos.

Overall, quite an interesting and enjoyable meet-up with the ‘kids’. Though the turn-out wasn’t that good but well I guess as we get along with our life, it will continue to be a challenge to gather everyone. But I believe we will be able to get everyone together come the next outing.

Now I realised that, having brunch is the time where we get our digestive system to work triple hard, as with the amount of food we take in, its no wonder the digestive system will over-worked after a brunch session.

Bloggy Bloggy Blog Blog

July 28, 2009 at 12:35 am | In Anything Whatever | Leave a Comment

Actually was thinking of something to blog about when I was on my way to the association. But somehow when I came back and wanting to start posting, I kind of forgot what was it that I wanted to blog. Hmm… signs of getting old or maybe because I was thinking of too much things, so now having abit of problem re-organising my thoughts.

I know there were quite a number of things that came into my mind during the journey to my association.

One was thinking of how I would be, if I am still in the ACS Primary Library. As the bus I took had went passed the school, so naturally the sentimental side of me will come in with the memories of my days at ACS Primary. Some of the teachers that I got along well with, and also my ex-Primary school teacher Miss Low. Wondering how she is doing maybe its time I drop her a sms.

Another thing that came to my mind was this friend of mine that somehow I had lost contact in a very sudden way. Not too sure if anything had happened, though I knew she did mentioned something about her knees giving her problems. Somehow after our last msn session, she just disappear. Not that I have done anything or said anything that freaked her out. But its just weird thinking about it now. Makes me wonder if anything bad has happened to her. Sure hope she is all well and fine.

The last thing that I recall that came into my mind was this Hong Kong movie I watched on TV on Sunday. “Breaking News”.  Had watched this movie on DVD before, and it was a great show to watch again on TV yesterday. Other than the story-line and plot, it also has 2 of my favourite actor and actress. Nick Cheung and Kelly Chen. It also shows the power media and how media can be used in different situations, by different people (both good and bad). Also the shows brings about the importance of Public Relations. The people that deals with all aspects of public relations in any organisation. Well, do catch the show if you can. Sure to keep you at the edge of the seat.

The road to Counselling

July 18, 2009 at 12:41 pm | In Anything Whatever | Leave a Comment

Finally had completed my 5 days training course to be a Para-counsellor. It sure was an interesting 5 days spent at the SAF Counselling Center. The 5 days does deepen my understanding of what counselling is all about, the framework behind counselling and also the practical skills to doing counselling.

Perhaps the part where I enjoyed most was the role-playing part. Thats where the rapport among the respective groups were built up. From being the individualistic person, we start to warm up to each other and start talking and laughing at each other during the role-play.

Through the 5 days course, it had helped me to realise the important role counsellors have to play in today’s society. Perhaps that had given me a better insight of counselling work and in helping me drive my passion to this field.

Now that I am equipped with these new skills. I will have to put it to good use and contribute to people who needs the help.

The Family Affairs

July 12, 2009 at 11:34 pm | In Anything Whatever | Leave a Comment

Supposed to blog this few weeks back but I think partly I was too lazy and thus the post was delayed till now.

Saw the return of my sis and her whole household, my brother-in-law and my little niece. So within a short day, my house became lively. We have kids running, adults talking and television or radio blaring. But its nice to see everyone back here again.

With the return of my sis, it also created an opportunity to get all the relatives here again. So within a span of almost 2 weeks. We were like entertaining relatives and friends almost every weekend. Which made my friend asked me, why am I like having Chinese New Year at my house like that.

Perhaps one of the highlight of sis’s return is also her wedding lunch reception. Well, holding it at the Equinox, its a pretty cool place to have. Nice view, great food and good services from the crew. A totally great event I would said.

Well as of all things… All good things must come to an end. So before we knew it, its time for them to head back home. The impact of things came on the night before they are leaving. Somehow my second sis starts crying when she bide them farewell to return, her actions also caused me and my mum to tear. Which made me realised that, my turn will come when I bide them farewell in the morning when they leave for the airport.

So woke up on Monday morning at 3 am. Everyone is awake by then, Mum, sis, bro-in-law and even the little niece. Soon its time for them to leave as the taxi is here to pick them up. So the moment arrives when I helped them to carry their luggage down. So while walking along the corridor to the lift, I am already controlling my tears. So putting the luggage in, gave my sis and bro-in-law a hug each, the tears just flowed down.

That pretty much ended their short stay here. The 10 days of lively get-together.

The Aunty Agony Bimbo

June 22, 2009 at 8:49 pm | In Anything Whatever | 1 Comment

Was talking to A today online and she mentioned about my blog. Well, thinking back. I realised that I hasn’t really blog about her before. Only bit and pieces of her. So today decide to dedicate a post for her, since thinking back she too had helped me quite a bit during my part-time studies days.

So.. To you, A… A post for you. Happy reading eh.

Had known A during our part-time diploma days. The first impression of her was that she is aloof. Can still remember we were playing this ice-breaking game at tutorial class on our first day. She came over to our group to get her bingo filled up, and the first thing she said was “Lets just get this over and done with!’ To be frank, that was kind of a shock to me and my newly made guy friends. So subsequently we didn’t talk much until somewhere in the middle of our Comms lesson, she decided to join my group for the project, and from then on, we became a group all the way till year 3.

After knowing her, came to realise that she isn’t that aloof as she appeared to be… Haa.. just a front she put up to scare people only lor. She is those that has been pretty much exposed to the society, so she is kind of street-smart and has experience in dealing with all these life issues (作人的道理).

Over the course of our studies together as a group, we not only struggle together in completing out projects, studying for tests and exams, I also find that because of her life experience, she is able to give pretty good advice to newbies like me who is just starting out trying to survive in the harsh society. I remember seeking her opinion when I wanted to make a switch in my career from the private sector into the publice sector. I recalled, she even helped me see how a difference in the pay can have an impact on my future.

So of course, apart from studies and work, there were also times where I shared some personal stuffs with her and she too will be able to give me her opinions.

Perhaps as in all relationship, there will be ups and downs… So our friendship was put to a test during year 3, where due to some mis-communications (today finally got the answer) we didn’t talked to each other. It was until like few months back we start to keep in touch via msn again. Well… am glad that things are over and we can still now talk about all the things in the world and again, somethings getting her views on things.

Yup… Am glad to have met this Mama Bimbo (now a proud mama)… I believe there will be more opportunities for you to be my aunty agony and getting your views on things that is happening around me.

Home-Coming II

June 20, 2009 at 12:32 pm | In Anything Whatever | Leave a Comment

In another 6 days time, our household will be expecting the return of a member of the household… Only difference is, this time round, the member will be bringing alone her own household. Haa… My Sis, my Bro-in-Law and my little niece. So we can expect the household to be buzzing with activities and also not to mention, noise. With 2 kids running around… Haa… its going to be an amazing scene to watch.

25th night will be the touch down night, had taken leave on the next day, so I can stay up late to be the welcoming party for the ‘visitors’. So will be getting supper ready for them. Haa… Fried Carrot Cake eh… Black and White.

Well… Its going to be a happening 2 weeks I guess. Will be posting more of the activities here for archive seek (KM in my workplace terms).

Let the count-down begins…..
